Help please! I am a technophobe and haven’t a clue how to save a recording, retrieve it, then insert music from Youtube in between speaking. Can I record the music straight from Youtube on to Audacity? I’ve got as far as hearing my voice in playback but then don’t know how to save it. The tutorials on Youtube have just confused me so I’ve given up on these.
Yes … Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Windows - Audacity Manual
Can save audio as an Audacity project … Saving - Audacity Manual
or as a WAV file (a universally compatible audio format) … WAV Export Options - Audacity Manual
Many thanks, I’ll give it a whirl…
For saving go to “File” (upper left) and then click “Export Audio” and browse to whichever file you want your audio saved to. (It will remember this selection for future exports, but you can change the file locations with each export if you want.) Then click “Export” on the bottom left. When you go to close out of that recording, it will ask you if you want to save it. You’ll tell it no (because the file has already been saved, but for some reason the program doesn’t really understand that).
It’s asking if you want to save the whole thing as an Audacity project (AUP3) file,
(it should still ask that even if you just exported some/all of it as WAV file).
