Hi guys,
Sorry I can’t find an Italian forum so apologies for my English.
My Audacity version is 2.3.3
Would you please let me know how to save a project I’m working on?
I’d like to save the project and open it at a later stage since it’s not a finished project.
When I click on “save the project” it says:
“Save project” is for an Audacity project, not for an audio file.
It makes me nervous, I don’t want an “audio file”, I need to save it as an Audacity file!
Don’t be nervous That message is just for your information. It’s not an “error”, it’s telling you that you if you proceed, you will save a project and not an audio file. In other words, you are doing it correctly.
The reason for that message is because previously, many novice users would incorrectly use “Save Project” when they actually wanted a normal audio file. To get a normal audio file it is necessary to use “Export”.
Note that there are two parts to a project: There is a “project file”, which will have a name ending with “.aup”, and there is a “project folder”. The project folder contains the project’s audio data. Both parts of the project (the file and the folder) are essential.
Hi Steve,
I’d like to send you a private message but I don’t know how to.
I don’t know how to lower the volume of a song.
Specifically, there is a song whose volume is way to higher than the previous one played so I need to lower its volume while mixing.
Do I have to use an effect?

I’ll close this topic as “solved” so that it may help other users that are looking for how to save a project.
