Hi everyone,
I’m using Audacity to record audio for my projects, but I’m struggling with background noise during recording. I’ve tried the Noise Reduction tool, but it sometimes makes the audio sound unnatural or distorted.
Could anyone share tips or best practices for:
- Setting up the Noise Reduction tool effectively?
- Preventing noise during recording (e.g., mic placement or settings)?
- Any plugins or additional tools that might help?
I’d really appreciate any advice or step-by-step guides!
I’m new to this, but I’ve found most background noise can be eliminated with a high pass filter. First, click on the name of the file and change the view to multi view or just spectrograph. You should be able to use the spectrogram to see low frequency noise and what Hz it occupies. Then select all or only the parts where there is too much background noise. - Effect - EQ and Filters - High Pass Filter. Use the settings to eliminate noise below the actual frequencies that you want to keep. Play around with the roll off Db per octave settings until you get the sound that you are comfortable with.
