How to record audio from headset and microphone

Hello,
I’m trying to record output audio from headset as well as my voice from the headset microphone. For example, record my voice in a Teams call and record their voices coming from the Teams call while I wear a headset.
I managed to figure out how to record audio coming from Teams call while using a headset but then my voice isn’t recorded anymore.
How can I make it so that it records both the audio coming from the laptop and my voice while wearing a headset and using it’s microphone?
Thank you in advance,
R

By default, Windows can only record from one thing at a time and Audacity doesn’t have a built-in way of getting around that. But, with “loopback” it can record everything you’re hearing in your speakers/headphones and that CAN be a mix.

So if you’re hearing all sides of the conversation in your headphones you can use WASAPI loopback.

Or, I think Microsoft provides a way of recoding Teams.

Most of the Chat services have a way to record the conversations on their servers. I believe, Zoom even has a way to supply individual sound files for the participants.

A quick note. Doing it yourself can cause some very serious problems. There was a forum poster who ripped the computer services apart and got perfect, clear recordings. Unfortunately, he also trashed his voice as it appeared to everyone else.

There is a side issue, too. Someone who mysteriously insists on local self-recording is reminded that Audacity doesn’t have time tags and can’t be used for Surveillance, Law Enforcement, and Conflict Resolution.

Hello,
Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I used Teams as an example but we won’t be using this for Teams or Zoom. Just generally, we want to record both the input sound and output sound coming from headset using Audacity.
Thanks,
R

You already have the headphone sound as a sound file, right? You can set Audacity for Overdubbing. This is where you can sing or play to an existing drum or rhythm track. Both headphones and microphone at the same time.

Here’s notes from the manual.
