How to put low pass filter on microphone

I would like to know if it is possible to apply a low pass filter to all audio coming from the microphone. I have seen the low pass filter in the Effects section, but that only seems to allow me to apply a filter to a selection of recorded audio. I am looking for a way to have all input from the microphone be filtered. Thanks.

No. Audacity doesn’t apply effects while recording.

…A full full-DAW application can do that that kind of thing, and some studio condenser mics have a low-cut switch.

You can do mechanical low pass. Any sock over the microphone head will reduce the crispness of voices. Experiment with different cloth.
