This is my first ever post here and I am extremely new to music and Audacity, so any answers for me will need to be in very basic language, please.
I have a track that I’d like to remove a section from. I managed to do that but the BPM is now slightly off and I have no idea how to correct it. I searched online for an answer and the nearest I got was to zoom in so far that I can see the ‘dots’ of music and then match the beat. I tried that but all I see is the dots…..I have no idea what they mean or what to do with them! Can anyone help me, please? Thank you.
Open the original
Then File ->Import → Audio to open a 2nd copy in the same project
(They will now mix together when played and they will mix when exported.)
Highlight the last part of the 1st copy and Delete it.
Highlight the first part of the 2nd copy and Generate- Silence.
Leave several beats of overlap to “play with”.
Now you can click-and-drag the on the track name of the 2nd half to the left so that the part you want to cut-out overlaps and so it sounds like the beats are synchronized.
Once they are synchronized you can delete/silence fade-out and fade-in to hopefully make a nice blend. You’ll probably want a crossfade with a duration of 1 beat or less but it’s something you’ll have to experiment with.

No, don’t zoom-in that far… Those "dots’ are samples… i.e. 44,100 samples per second and there are thousands of samples in one beat. With the right amount of zoom with several beats in the view, you might be able to see the beats in the waveform. But you’ll still probably need to listen and tweak by ear.
Thank you SO much for your reply and for making it simple enough for me to understand. I’m very grateful and looking forward to playing around with it, now I now what to do. Thank you
