How to make space between two sound files?

I need space (not any sound) between two sound files. How?

Assuming that you are using Audacity 1.3.14 (if not you should upgrade: http://audacityteam.org/download/ )

Method 1

  1. Click where you want the space.
  2. Generate > Silence

Method 2

  1. Click where you want the space
  2. Edit > Clip Boundaries > Split (shortcut: Ctrl+I)
  3. Change to the Time Shift tool (double headed arrow ↔ or F5 key)
  4. Click and drag the audio after the split to the right to open up a space at the “split”.
