How to make something reverb-away slowly

Working on some music production and I’m looking to create an effect similar to this, where a loop slowly fades into the reverb and disappears. I’ve tried what I can but I can’t get it to work, does anyone have any suggestions for how I could recreate this effect?

If I have to use external software I’m alright with that.

Created a duplicate in-sync version of the original track.
Apply (wet only) reverb to the duplicate.
Then crossfade between the original and the duplicate.
