Hi all, I’ve been using Audacity for a while now to mix background music and voiceovers, and I’m trying something a bit different that I think others might find useful too.
I want to create a simple audio slideshow for a small summer project — basically a track that fits with a series of immagini buongiorno estate (good-morning summer images) that I’ll be showing in a video. The idea is to have ambience + light music + spoken greetings that feel warm and welcoming.
A few specific questions I’ve run into while working on this:
-
Exporting multiple clips — I have short voice clips for each image, and I’d like to mix them so they transition smoothly without abrupt silence. What’s the best way in Audacity to fade in/out between them? I’m using Audacity 3.7.7 on Windows 10.
-
Matching tempo to visuals — Does anyone have tips for pacing the audio so it feels in sync with a changing image every ~5–7 seconds? I’ve tried using the Label Track and Time Shift Tool but still feel the timing is a bit off.
-
Audio format for slideshows — When exporting for use in a slideshow/video editor (I’m using OpenShot), should I export WAV or MP3? What’s been reliable for you?
For reference, I found a collection of summer greeting visuals I’m planning to use here: — mostly to give a sense of the vibe I’m aiming for.
Any workflow suggestions or pitfalls to avoid would be really appreciated. I’m not looking to automate everything, but a smoother approach than doing each clip manually would be great!
Thanks in advance! ![]()
