How to import A/52 B Audio codec (aka E-AC3)(eac3) from a mkv video file?

hi,

i have a short video in MKV format where VLC (under windows x64) tell me that the audio codec is :

A/52 B Audio codec (aka E-AC3)(eac3)
Type : Audio
Channel : 3F2M/LFR
Freq : 48000 Hz
Bits sample : 32

i wish to open the sound part into audiocity to edit it (and also export it in wav or mp333).

When i use the menu “open”, after selected the mkv file, Audacity said “incorect filetype”

how can i open it ?

ps : i just installed audacity 3.6.0

Install FFmpeg and you should be able to open it.

Download & RUN FFmpeg_5.0.0_for_Audacity_on_Windows_x86_64.exe to install it and you should be ready-to-go.

VLC can also export the audio but you’ll have to look-up how to do it. And it MIGHT only give you a WAV file so you’d have to use Audacity or another converter to make an MP3…
