Sometimes my voice has too much breathing sounds. Like a creepy phone caller. Is there a filter for this? Is my microphone placement wrong? Surely I can’t be the only person with this problem.

Increasing your distance from the mic will reduce breathiness, but increase roominess.
The noise gate can help with this, check out this youtube video, and there are others on there too.
