How to export for a 30fps video

Hi everyone,

I’m new around here and let me start to say a thanks to all of you.

Iìm also a total noob with editing software, so I need a basic explanation.

I’m currently recording with audacity a commentary for a youtube video video, to edit withc DaVinci Resolve.

The audio track was exported at 48 Khz, but when gets imported in DaVinci on a 30fps timeline, it gets speeded up, like 1.5x.

How can I solve this Issue?

That’s a weird problem. I’m blaming DaVinci, but I’ve never used it.

Have you actually timed it? Is it really that bad?

What’s the format? WAV is the most “foolproof” format if DaVinci can use it. (Most video editors can convert to whatever audio/video format you want.)

Does it play OK when you play it in Windows Media Player (or whatever you like to use)? Or when you re-open in Audacity?

Sure, it’s in WAV format. If the timeline is set on 30fps, the audio gets sped up by 15.x, but on 24fps it gets right.

So the WAV file is OK, right? And it’s OK in Windows Media Player?

Is there a DaVinci forum? Or maybe try a different video editor.

DaVinci Resolve is heavily used in the film industry, where 24fps is the standard. Many of its features and workflows are fine-tuned for this frame rate. So I guess, at 30fps it might misinterpret the settings (like incorrectly assume the audio was recorded at a different sample rate (e.g., 44.1 kHz), causing the audio to play faster.

You can additionally check DaVinci Resolve settings if the timeline frame rate set to 30 fps, and the audio sample rate set to 48 kHz. And then try to re-import the audio.

If your audio and video devices can sync to a Bluetooth timecode generator, it would probably solve this problem.
