How To Disable Onboard Mic While Streaming

Hey everyone!

This is driving me nuts. I am trying to stream the audio of my band from a youtube video and I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to disable the built-in mcrophone on my laptop while doing it. I tried everything I can think of, and even temporarily disabled the microphone driver in Control Panel (Windows 8.1) but this causes Audacity to spit out an error message when I hit the record button. I am trying to record in Stereo, streaming only, no microphone because the room isn’t that quiet. lol

I tried it in Audacity, but lowering the mic input in the toolbar also seems to remove the streaming as well, Any ideas what to do here?

Thanks!

To record a YouTube video in Audacity, record from Stereo Mix or Windows WASAPI loopback, not from the internal mic. Then you won’t need to disable the internal mic. See Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Windows - Audacity Manual.

Or make it simpler, download the video. Search online for how to do that. If it’s your band, why won’t they make the video available to you?
