I use the handy Envelope tool to undo crescendos in sustained crash cymbal notes imposed by compression (even when Release time is increased to 3 secs). But adding start and end points to keep the amplitude of the preceding and following sections of the waveform unchanged is a challenge for me.
When I click in the waveform to add a start handle point, I find that a less-than-perfect mouse click changes the amplitude of the waveform. I notice the double arrowheads of the cursor need to be a littrle above center. Is there a way to place a handle wthout altering the peak amplitude of the waveform? I tried holding down the Shift, Ctrl and Alt keys without success.
