How to add a track without "Duplicating" a music section

I do music editing and cut/add some sections.

How do I add a track without always “Duplicating” a music section?
For now, I Duplicate a music section to have a second track. I “Generate Silence” to start at the right timing, then I paste a music section (from the first track) to the second track. I’m sure ther is an easier way.

Import Audio will start a new track. Make a file with your silence on it and import that. It also (on my machine) is a hot key.

For a mono track, the quickest way is Ctrl+Shift+N
If you forget that key combination, look near the top of the “Tracks menu > Add New > …” This is also where you will find the option for adding stereo tracks.
