How do you efficiently manage empty timeline gaps & multitrack stem exports in Audacity 4.0?

Looking for some workflow advice on clip placement and exporting in Audacity 4.0!

I recorded a multitrack podcast project with several mono tracks (Audio 1, Audio 2, sponsor clips, etc.). I talked from start to finish every part and can hear it normally on audacity.

When I rendered the full project to a WAV file, the audio played completely quiet for the first ~0:42, then I heard voices again but then went dead silent at 1:07 and didn’t return the audio until 33:52. Every single part is hearable in the audacity software, but when I download it to my files for my personal use. It’s not hearable on those parts.

A couple of questions for experienced Audacity users:

  • None of the tracks are muted or soloed (M and S are off across all tracks).
  • Exporting Stems: If I export Individual stems to bring into another DAW (like Adobe Audition), does Audacity automatically pad the start of every track stem from 0:00 so all the files drop into place at time zero cleanly?
  • Workflow tips: Is it better practice to assemble/edit all clips onto a single main track first, or keep them split on separate tracks until the final mix?

Appreciate any insights or standard editing routines

This is strange. Can you send me a link to the AUP4 file so I can give i a test?
