How do I move within audio recording?

Can anyone tell me how to move easily within an audio recording?

Let’s say I’m already playing an audio file. And, I want to skip back from a point in the audio to an earlier point: Couldn’t I just click on where I want with my mouse and start playing from there? In other words, the audio is at 2:55 – but, I want to skip back to 1:30 (or whatever), and start playing from that point. Can’t I just click it and re-start play?

Instead, Audacity creates “loops” . . . or, it places a line where I clicked, but keeps playing from the line that’s at where it last played.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Click in the Time Line to start or restart playback from that point.

You can drag the horizontal scroll elevator. If you are zoomed way in this can get you lost.

Pressing the PageUp button will shift the timeline left a “screenful” and PageDown will do the opposite. You still have to click on the timeline to tell the program where you want to start playing.
