How do i connect a cr-318 cassette player to audacity to record
Probably by using a cable. 
Do you have any information about this “cr-318” device? What connectors does it have? Do you have a link to a user’s manual?
I connected it to a Behringer UCA222 like I did with my Onkyo cassette tape deck. But, I need to know what would be the Preference: Audio Settings - host, playback, recording,…. settings for the cr-318 portable cassette player? Not the same as the Onkyo.
The analog-to-digital conversion is then done by the UCA22. If this is what you used with your earlier cassette deck, it should be exactly the same settings. Is it the same computer / operating system? If not: did you grant Audacity access to “microphone” (this is what all external sound sources are called in the operating system - not only microphones).
You need to select in Audacity something called “… USB …”, which is the UCA222.
