The pitch of a track seems a bit higher. Can someone please let me know how to use “Change Pitch” to lower the pitch just a little bit? The parameters on Change Pitch window are not very obvious.
I can enter a change of less than 0.1% and I assume that works but I can’t hear the difference.
If you can live with a speed change the Change Speed effect will change pitch & speed together (like playing a record or tape faster/slower). Change Speed requires less processing so you are less likely to get artifacts/side effects (better sound quality).

It’s probably confusing because there’s more than one way enter the data. If you change one (or two) of the boxes the others change automatically. For example if you enter 100% that’s a 100% increase which is twice the frequency and up on octave and up 12 semitones (12 notes in an octave).
It turns out the pitch needs to be changed more than “a little bit” I actually make-1.6% adjustment before it sounds right. I noticed some sections in the modified track change its original sound patterns a bit (not too bad but a bit different). That’s probably the artifacts/side effects you mentioned, correct?
Change Speed is the one to use if you can. That changes everything, pitch and duration, but has little or no sound damage.
Change Pitch rips the sound apart tries to change only the pitch without affecting anything else and then smashes it all back together and hopes for the best. That’s the one with the odd sound damage.
If something in the system caused a pitch change chances are terrific that it’s a sampling rate error or other plain electronic mistake. Those can be fixed with Change Speed.
If you produced your way into a show where timing is critical and there is a pitch error, then you have no choice but to put up with Change Pitch distortion.
What I’m trying to do is to mix a sax solo with an accompaniment. The pitch of sax solo sounds a bit higher. If I use speed change to adjust sax pitch, the modified sax track won’t match accompaniment’s beat. I guess I have to use pitch change to correct pitch error of the sax solo?

I think you’re stuck.
I wonder how you got that performance? Sax’s don’t have pitch judgement. You either hit the note or you don’t. If the performer didn’t hit the notes, then you’re in serious disaster recovery.
Depending on how the performance was captured, you will get a conflict between the actual note and all the surrounding non-note sounds such as fingering noises, clothing noises, and air management noises. If you get the note right, even with the Change Pitch distortions, all those other sounds will be wrong.
If you’re the Producer, it’s up to you to decide when to give up.
The Hollywood solution is record it again, or record it multiple times and select the good notes with careful editing. So it is possible to pull any performance out, but it’s up to the Producer to decide whether it’s worth it.

I totally agree. re-record is probably the best.
I guess this pitch issue was probably introduced by wrong position of sax mouthpiece. I.e. mouthpiece was pushed in too much over the right position on neck, which causes pitch higher. Not very sure though.
