How can I save a filter curve that I created to survive my re-installation of my PC with Win-10?

Hello,
how can I save a filter curve that I created in order for it to survive my re-installation of my PC with Win-10?
In audacity (2.3.3), in the Menu [Effect], Filter curve I created my own filter curve.
By clicking the button “Verwalten” (= manage or administrate in english) in the lower left, I could give it a name and save it.
However, as creating this curve was some work I would like to export my filter curve or save it outside of audacity because I need to set up my PC with Windows 10 shortly.
I will go Tabula rasa which means install freshly and also install audacity again. But as my filter curve was only saved inside (the depths) of audacity I surmise it will be gone.
I want to prevent that from happening, as I do not want to recreate it again because creating the curve was nitty gritty.

How can I save my filter curve to a place on my hard drive and import it into audacity again after having set up my PC with Win-10?
Thank you for a suggestion.
I hope this is possible at all, somehow.

Regards
Andreas

Until the next version of Audacity comes out, it’s a bit tricky.
The next version of Audacity has import / export for all built-in effects, but Audacity 2.3.3 doesn’t.

For Audacity 2.3.3 you will need to make a copy of the “pluginsettings.cfg” file.
That file will be in the hidden folder:

Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\audacity\

After reinstalling Windows 10, install Audacity, then copy the “pluginsettings.cfg” file back to the same place, overwriting the default pluginsettings.cfg file.

The desperation method, if it’s a simple curve, is extend the display and do a screen capture.

For example, this is the Low Rolloff filter for the Audiobook Mastering Suite.

So if everything fell in the ocean, I could put the curve back together from that.

Hi,
thank you very much.
Of course I already did a screen capture of my curve.
But I am glad Steve let me know how to save it anyways.

I would like to ask when the version of audacity will come out that allows exporting of effects and my curve?
Will it be in Summer or next year?

Andreas

All being well it will be this month.
