How can I make the volume of my speakers not affect the volume of what's being recorded?

Greetings, all. I’m trying to record some computer audio. I want my headphones to be quiet so I have my recording level at 30%. When I listen to the recorded audio (with my headphones volume higher afterwards) I notice that my audio sounds quieter than it would if my recording level was higher. I want to make it to where my recording level is irrelevant to the finished recording. Is that possible?

Here is some additional info in case you need it:

Host = Windows WASAPI
PLAYBACK = Headphones
RECORDING = Headphones
RECORDING CHANNEL = 1 MONO

Thank you for reading. I’m a noob.

The problem is, this is a “trick” to record what’s coming OUT of your soundcard rather than the usual way of recording what’s coming IN.

You probably won’t get any quality degradation recording as you are and applying the Amplify effect after recording.

Or if you plug-in external computer speakers they usually have their own volume knob so you can turn the computer to max. And some computer speakers have a headphone jack.

Or you could get a Headphone Attenuator.
