Ive managed to record with Audacity help some of my, old Audio K7 onto my computer. Thanks for the help of the forum with that too.
However the Audio K7 is recorded as a whole and not with any difference between each extract/track!
Its therefore difficult when you want to listen to one particular extract for eg. extract/track 1.5 of the audio and theres no way of getting to that exact place on the audio only! Its not like when you copy a CD onto the computer..then it comes in tracks 1 or 2 etc. Can anyone help me to..how to go about putting the Audio capture Ive now made with Audacity into showing the tracks seperately pls. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the hassle!
That’s an issue with “computer files”. Unlike the shiny disc formats, most computer audio/video formats don’t support tracks or chapters. (Not much different from a Cassette tape.)
…If you download an album from Amazon or iTunes you get a separate file for each song and your player software can play them in order based on the embedded track number.
Inside Audacity you can add Labels.
Then if you want separate files for each track you can use the labels to Export Multiple.
Or I skip the labeling, select/highlight one track at a time and then Export Current Selection, one at a time.
I’m assuming you mean you are recording an album and you want to make separate tracks for each song. These 2 YouTube videos illustrate what DVDdoug explained in his post:
Please note: these videos refer to an older version of Audacity. Things have changed slightly. In particular, the Export process has been nicely streamlined to save work.
I hope this helps.

Hello. Thks for the msg. Very kind of u to try to help me.
Actually, I am trying to record the Listening audio extracts from my old audio K7s onto the Computer. The Audios are for my English Class lessons that are connected to the Student and Teacher’s Books that I use for teaching.
I have the books and the Audio K7s.
Thought to use the same method/books for teaching..unfortunately as the listening parts r in K7 form still![ thought I’d get them on to the Computer ! with the help of Audacity.
I’ve done it finally (hurrah!)
but the copy in the Computer comes as a whole and not in tracks, so it’s difficult to find where exactly is the extract I need!!
That’s the story behind my request for help.
Is there a way to break down the Audacity capture into tracks that can be found.. each and every one separately and easily, please?
Your help will be truly appreciated.
Just to mention here, I am not very computer savy either..so an easy way to do it would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance .
Sorry for the long story, though!
What has confused me here is you talking about audio K7s. I assumed you were referring to one of these: Fosi Audio K7. Your most recent post suggests you mean cassette tapes. Is that right? If your are recording cassettes to your computer and you want to split each side into separate tracks the second of those 2 links I gave you to YouTube videos tells you exactly how to do it. It makes no difference if it’s music or speech, the process is the same.
