*******what can i do to install software to use with my MacBook? *******

“Muse Hub” is a software “shopping” app for the Muse Group organisation.

The audio recording app is “Audacity”. You can get the latest version here: Releases · audacity/audacity · GitHub

If your Mac is 64-bit Intel, then you will need the audacity-macOS-3.7.3-x86_64.dmg version.

Hi thank you for your quick reply.
Now, How would i know if my MacBook air is 64-bit intel?

If it is newer than 2010 and is not a “M” (Silicon) processor, then it will be 64-bit Intel.

I’m a Windows guy…

Older Versions of Audacity

Or all of those little USB cassette players are class compliant which means they work with the drivers that come with Windows, MacOS, and Linux, and *any recording application should work. (if it runs on your OS). And of course, you can use the audio editing application of your choice too.

Click on the Apple menu, then choose “About this Mac”. Look at “Chip”.

I purchased it from Apple in 2013. I don’t know anything about a “M” Silicon processor. You are way above my league in computer lingo.

Is there anywhere on my computer to check this?

Thanks so much Steve, you are super helpful; I really appreciate your help.

See the reply from billw58 above.

Yep, I was an Windows person forever. Then I decided in 2013 to purchase my first Apple product.

I don’t see anything about “chip” under “about this mac” I did install the software that you referred me to, so i am going to start my first project today.

I just wanted to THANK YOU SOOOOOOO VERY MUCH; YOU ARE SUCH A NICE INTELLIGENT PERSON!

When you are asked, what type of engine is in your car - you also answer with an image of the car’s wheels?

If your Mac is from 2013, it has an Intel processor inside. Apple changed to a different processor architecture somewhere in the year 2020. All Macs manufactured after this change have processors called M1, M2, M3 or M4 (so far - the numbers behind the M may increase indefinitely…).

In “About this Mac”, my Mac tells me what processor is inside, see below.

Go here: Audacity ® | Download for macOS

Scroll down to x86_64 dmg (Intel) and click the Download button.

This is not guaranteed to work on macOS 11.7.3, but it probably will.

@billw58 why are you sure that he needs the version for Intel? The M1 MacBook Air 2020 came with macOS 11.0 originally. So far I did not see any statement telling us what model he owns. Or maybe I just overlooked this?

Because he says he bought it new in 2013.
