Help config audacity 3.7.7 linux

Bonjour,

I don’t often use audacity and I have some problems when new versions are installed by my linux distro (fedora).

Today the problem is with recording config:

1- I don’t know how to adjust the recording level: it is very low and I cannot see any place where I could adjust the level.

2- When I listen to a recording (from a web radio) it seems that people are talking in a cathedral as if a special effect were in use.

I have a bar tool with : Alsa, mic: default, 2 chanels, speakers : default

Thank you for helping.

I’m a Windows guy, but…

You may have to turn-up the playback level. (That’s usually the case with Windows.)

Make sure you’re not recording from your laptop’s microphone… Clap your hands or talk to make sure you’re not picking-up sound from the room.

Recording Desktop Audio

Are all web sources you are recording like this, or just one?

A podcast can get this exact effect if they are using two totally separate audio sources, like using a Zoom recording where each person records their own track. It ends up sounding like you are sitting in the middle of a big room with a person talking at each end. A stereo podcast needs to be panned at about 70% crossover or 80% at maximum.

If you are recording a source that is like that, the only thing you can do is pan it yourself.

Thank you for answering. In fact, yes, I was recording through the microphone of the webcam.

I could solve the problem: on my linux everything must be set using the pavu-control (pulseaudio, control) : we have to choose what is the input source (line or monitor of the audio) and set the recording input level.

Everything seems to be OK now.

Thank you.
