Hello Guys

hi there,

sound itself works fine. using alsa and using pulseaudio both play sounds.

but when for example i play a sound in amarok and then at the same time from a different source, steam for example - then the sounds are being played but very loud and distorted.

i thought maybe thats a steam problem, but its not, the same thing happens, when i play a sound in amarok and use the gnome sound settings to play a test sound.

my audio cards are :
Code:
00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Trinity HDMI Audio Controller
and
00:14.2 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] FCH Azalia Controller (rev 01)

same thing happens when i play analog over headphone and also with digital optical output

i use kernel 3.18.1 with gnome 3 :

media-sound/pulseaudio-5.0-r4
media-libs/phonon- 4.7.2

system is uptodate.

any help on this is very much appreciated, thats the only thing thats spoiling my gentoo linux experience atm :frowning:

edit : switching from in kernel compiled drivers to separate modules made no difference

On Windows according to the title of this forum board

Like other modern operating systems, different applications can have different playback levels, and there are multiple places to control the volume. Check the playback settings in your main mixer application for each playback application AND check the settings in AlsaMixer.
