Headphone issues

I am on a MAC Air, version 10.13.6. I am editing with Audacity version 2.3.1. I’m trying to edit a sample audio for ACX. They want the sound recorded in mono 1. As I am listening back to my audio, I can only hear sound coming from one side (the right side) of my headphones and it is low volume even though I have it turned up to the max. I have tested the sound with many other things (youtube, itunes, amazon music, videos, etx), and I can hear audio coming from both and the sound is loud and clear. I have even tried a different headphones/earbuds (my Apple earbuds, and BOSE earbuds). The same thing happens with them all (sound only from right side when playing my audio from Audacity). I am attaching a screenshot of my audio recording.

Any help would be appreciated. I don’t feel that I am hearing clearly with just one side working and the volume being so low.

You nearly cut off the clue. See way over on the left side of the timeline it says…ght.

Audacity thinks your single audio track is the Right-hand portion of a stereo track missing Left. This will, in fact play to the right side of your headphones. All headphones.

Right now, you can fix this with a little wacky wave management. Duplicate the track with Command-D. That gives you two independent copies of the show—two blue waves. Use the top track pull-down menu and Make Stereo Track.

Then use the same drop-down > Split Stereo to Mono. Not Split Stereo, which is how I think you got here in the first place.

Delete one of the two tracks. That should play to both sides of your headphones.

As an experiment, can you record a simple 20 second sound test and post it on the forum? Use this formula.
