When I try to record off my Crosley executive usb record player and I follow the steps on the tutorial to record from a USB record player it doesn’t make a sound. When I plug the USB from my Crosley in it says microphone array instead of USB audio codec could this be the problem?
The Tutorial is here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recording_with_usb_turntables.html .
Please recheck using that Tutorial. To hear the USB record player while recording, open Device Toolbar. Choose the built-in computer sound device for output, the USB Audio CODEC or similar name for input, and enable Transport > Software Playthrough so that it is on (shows a checkmark or tick).
You’ll need to ask Crosley about what name they give to the device. However if you plugged Crosley into the computer after you launched Audacity, you will need to restart Audacity or use Transport > Rescan Audio Devices before Audacity will see it.
Don’t forget that to export MP3 from Audacity you should install LAME: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame .
