Harmonics Generator

Hi Audacity Team,

I am new to this program and is currently using it to create short tones for my research project and I have an important question to ask regarding how does the Harmonics Generator work.

I used the Harmonics generator to add timbre quality to my short tones. What I did was for each tone, I adjusted the magnitude of the fundamental frequency, and the third harmonic to a value of 0.3 and 0.1 on the harmonics generator scale. When I looked at the plot spectrum the sounds does have harmonics added to it. But I am not sure what is it that I have exactly done (in technical terms).

Am I increasing the amplitude of first and third harmonic such that it would have an effect on the output wave form? I’m sorry if i didn’t make sense due to my lack of technical background in this area…

Regards,
Ping

I presume that the “Harmonics generator” is a plug-in.
Could you tell us where it comes from? (it’s not shipped with Audacity).

Hi Audacity Team,

Yes it is a plug in that I’ve downloaded online. I’ve pasted the link here

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Audio-Plugins/Harmonic-Generator.shtml

The only information that I can find about that plug-in is the small amount of documentation on the developer’s website: http://plugin.org.uk/ladspa-swh/docs/ladspa-swh.html#tth_sEc2.54
Steve Harris does not appear to be supporting these plug-ins any longer.
