Gsnap / FFmpeg / LAME / latest version don't work

Hello,

I’ve have installed all latest version of these programs/plugings but first my Gsnap tool made Audacity crash every time, and now it fails to initialize the tool…

I have added the log in Notepad. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks a million!

According to your log, LAME and FFmpeg have loaded successfully.

GSnap has nothing to do with LAME, FFmpeg or with importing MP3 files.

Where did you get GSnap from? Obtain the 32-bit version from http://www.gvst.co.uk/gsnap.htm. Can you say exactly what you do in GSnap before Audacity crashes?

If those crashes continue, I would exit Audacity then open Windows File Explorer and type

 %appdata%\Audacity

in the address bar. Hit ENTER on your keyboard. Then you are in the Audacity settings folder. Delete the files pluginsettings.cfg and pluginregistry.cfg. Then launch Audacity and re-enable GSnap at Effect > Add / Remove Plug-ins… .

Wondershare is known adware/malware. What do you use it for? There are safer tools for anything that Wondershare can do. I would uninstall Wondershare (all components) and do a deep anti-virus scan on your computer. Finish off with AdwCleaner to get rid of all adware traces.

The log seems to show that the MP3 file imported successfully. Did you see the blue waves for the file?

The last line of the log says

13:32:02: Error: Failed to load shared library '.dll' (error 126: kan opgegeven module niet vinden.)

I don’t know what that error refers to, however neither LAME or FFmpeg are required to import MP3. FFmpeg can import MP3, but as the log shows, Audacity did not use FFmpeg to do so.

The MP3 file you have may not really be an MP3. Giving it .mp3 extension does not of itself make it an MP3 if it isn’t one.

Thank you for your quick help, Gale.

I followed these steps :

"If those crashes continue, I would exit Audacity then open Windows File Explorer and type
CODE: SELECT ALL
%appdata%\Audacity
in the address bar. Hit ENTER on your keyboard. Then you are in the Audacity settings folder. Delete the files pluginsettings.cfg and pluginregistry.cfg. Then launch Audacity and re-enable GSnap at Effect > Add / Remove Plug-ins… . "

And this worked…

The crashes are gone.
Thanks again for your time, energy and the sharing of your knowledge!

Thanks for telling us exactly what you did. If the GSnap crash problem comes back when you enable more plugins, please let us know.
