Gradually slow song? [SOLVED]

I did find a thread discussing the exact same topic, but it’s locked so I’m having to start a new one. I’ve tried searching the net but all I get are instructions on how to gradually decrease volume or reduce speed/tempo of whole song.

I’ve read the thread, and while one of the replies explains this is done using something called the Time Track, the instructions for doing so are less than clear.

Can anyone give me a more detailed explanation, please?

Just to clarify, I’d like to gradually slow the entire track. And yes, I understand this will change the pitch, too, but this is the effect I want anyway.

Thanks in advance.

In addition to Trebor’s excellent answer, there is also the “Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift” effect. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/sliding_time_scale_pitch_shift.html

Thank you both very much! That gif is an excellent method of instructing

Is is possible to shift tempo gradually without shifting pitch?

Sliding stretch can change tempo without changing pitch …

Thanks, Trebor. Since posting my request, I’ve seen there’s some sort of bug in the linux version which means sliding stretch has been omitted.
