Nothing I have done has been any help with this problem: The recordings are raspy and the volume is very low. I have showed the problem to a couple of people who are general SW experts. One of them asked if it is possible to disable automatic gain control? I couldn’t find anything like that in the manual.
It has worked on 2 prior computers, installed the exact same way from the exe. Finally bought a new computer with a fast processor, and it doesn’t work well.

What are you recording, how, what kind of computer and what’s SW?
You shouldn’t use abbreviations in questions.
We have to build your system in our imaginations, and there’s almost nothing in your post to help us do that.

Audacity doesn’t have anything like that (Audacity can’t apply any effects during recording) but it might be a [u]Windows setting[/u].
