I have been exporting segments from a 30 minute mp3 file. After a number of segments, I get this error which prevents me from continuing on my task. Closing the application will resolve the issue, however it remains an annoying procedure.
I also cleaned out the autosave and temp folders. After a while the error returns.
System:
ASUS i5 2.5 gHz laptop Win 7 HP w/ 6 gigs memory. System partition has 90 Gb free
I am experiencing this problem.
Audacity 2.0.5
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
The error occurs on every autosave.
In the directory I see several tmp files and one autosave file.
The timestamp on the autosave file matches the timestamp of the most recent tmp file.
The files all have the same size, except the oldest tmp file is one byte smaller.
I can continue after clicking OK, but the problem recurs frequently.
Rebooting did not help me. But I believe I have a solution that works for me.
I have a backup device which is configured to backup a file whenever there is a change.
I speculate that Audacity was unable to remove the old autosave file whenever the backup device happened to have the file open to make its copy.
I have modified the configuration of the backup device so that it no longer backs up the RoamingAudacity directory.
This change seems to have resolved the problem.
Backing up C:UsersAppDataRoamingAudacity incrementally probably isn’t a very good idea. The AutoSave folder and audacity.cfg will change very frequently in the course of a project. In particular if you are recording, the autosave file will be modified every few seconds.
