Fraunhofer MP3 (l3codecp.acm) on Audacity

Hi there,

Does anyone know how to get Audacity working with the MP3 professional codec from Fraunhofer?

I can’t get Audacity to load the l3codecp.acm file as it would a DLL using the Preferences dialogue. Is there another way to install this?

Thanks,
Conservationist

If you have an executable version of the encoder you may be able to set it up as an external encoder: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/exporting_to_an_external_program.html
However, I wouldn’t bother. You should get results as good with LAME.

Thank you for answering. I don’t have the executable, but the version that came with iTunes/WMP.

For the specific genre I’m using, this is not the case. I can’t speak for any other type of music.

Which is? And what are the differences?

I don’t have time to try this but does http://nyaochi.sakura.ne.jp/software/acmenc help?
