FLV Truncation

I’ve used Audacity for several years to edit FLV files downloaded from BBC iPlayer. Each is around 30 minutes & plays without issue but when loaded into Audacity, they are truncated to around 6 minutes. This only seems to affect programmes downloaded after late October 2015. Has anyone else come across this issue?

I think the BBC did that to make it harder for people to breach the terms of the license agreement:

I suspected that might be the case. I wish the BBC would edit the shows down to remove the padding (several minutes) at the start & end of shows. I listen to a lot of their shows when driving & I don’t want to be fiddling with my phone to skip the dross.

Where do you play the files when they play correctly? You could always record them as they play.

Does Audacity show you a dialogue for which streams to select when you import the video?

I can play them in VLC. There’s no Audacity dialogue for stream selection. These are audio only & presumably a single stream.

So in that case is it not some kind of Audacity issue? It would only be a DRM restriction if you could play the file in the iPlayer or some approved application but nowhere else.
