Complete newbie here. I have been exporting my vinyl records to MacBook Pro for a year now. Most exports sound fine but some sound really flat (almost metallic) and when the vocal sings “S” the sound is clearly distorted.
Can some of you help?

Does it sound OK before you export?
What format are you exporting to? If you are exporting as a compressed format, try WAV at 44.1kHz/16-bits, or better.
That sounds like damage to the vinyl.
“Flat and metallic” also sounds like damage.
Is there a relationship between the age of the vinyl and how it sounds?
What turntable and cartridge are you using? Do you know the condition of the stylus?
