Flat line while trying to record on MacBook Pro

Hi. I am using a Blue Yeti Blackout on my MacBook Pro with a USB-C to USB adapter running on Catalina, and have the most up to date Audacity. I’m pretty new to Audacity, but I’ve been using it a few days, and all of a sudden yesterday I just kept getting a flat line while trying to record. I have checked every FAQ, watched every video, read every forum post, asked every friend, and I have no idea why it isn’t working. I’m getting audio from my mic on Zoom, OBS, Google Meets, and various Mic tests. I have no idea what’s going on. Can anyone help?

Catalina has been a problem.

That basic problem, plus there are no good, simple reliable ways to record Skype, Zoom, Meets, Conferences, Chat, or other similar apps. In most cases, the communications software needs to take over the computer sound pathways and you either get a good conference or a recording, but not both at once.

In some cases, it’s possible to get the supplier to record the conference, but don’t fall in love with that, either. We’re getting postings from people with distorted service recordings. Some of that isn’t the service’s fault. Internet congestion and overload screws everything up now that everybody on earth is trying to do everything on-line in real time.
