File cannot convert from MP3 to MIDI

Version: 2.3
Windows 10

I found a youtube video of a piano piece I think would sound lovely. It is a solo piece, with no overlapping, and so I figured it would meet the requirements for MIDI conversion through Audacity.

I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, or this particular song just isn’t compatible…

I’m really really hoping to be able to convert this MP3 into MIDI, because the original is electronic, but the uploader of the youtube piece had played it by ear, and uploaded it. That’s what I’m going off of.

MP3 file is attached to the link (hopefully haha)

Thanks

Did the software instructions say it could? Converting sound to MIDI is probably the most difficult thing a system can do. Audacity’s MIDI is not all that advanced or comprehensive.

MIDI is a programming language, not sound. Did it ask you which one of the pianos you wanted?

That’s one of the things it needs to know to build the song header.

We should wait for one of the MIDI elves.

Apparently, we’ve done this before.
