And I thought audacity has been 64bit since 2.3.1?

The current version of Audacity for macOS is 64-bit. Linux may be 32-bit or 64-bit depending on whether it was built on a 32 or 64-bit system. Windows is currently 32-bit only but testing is underway for 64-bit.

And i take then that ffmpeg 4.2.2 won’t work with audacity if i tried to install it

What the original poster was suggesting may be “out of date” is the fact that the ffmpeg version to use with windows is 2.2.2.

If the version number for ffmpeg-win is meant to match with that of the ffmpeg project, then it’s from several years ago and likely missing improvements made upstream.
