I have ffmpeg-win-2.2.2 installed in the correct place and i have tried manually locating it within the program but it has automatically located it correctly.
.aac files still won’t open, i get:
without the optional ffmpeg library audacity cannot open this type of file.
Try opening a WAV or MP3 file, and see if you can export it as M4A/AAC.
If that works FFmpeg is at least partially working and, maybe there’s something wrong with your AAC files. Try checking one of the files with MediaInfoOnline.
Note that for Windows, the manual says to use the FFmpeg “EXE” installer rather than the ZIP version.
Note that for Windows, there is a 32-bit version of FFmpeg and a 64-bit version, and Audacity is available as 32-bit or 64-bit. Ensure that you download the version of FFmpeg that matches your version of Audacity.
If you follow these instructions and still have problems, start a new forum topic and ensure that you include:
The exact version of Audacity you are using
What operating system you are using
The full and exact file name of the FFmpeg installer that you are trying to use
