Failed to execute a project file command:

Hello. I am unsure as to what happened here and am looking for help.

I attempted to run a macro that I always run (over 140 podcast episodes now). It is a 6 channel mono macro that is run in this order:

  • Filter Curve
  • Low Pass Filter
  • High Pass Filter

When I came back to my audacity, all of the files were blank (no audio). I control-z’d, to back up, and the files returned. I saved the project and exited, to compress the work. Now when I attempt to load up the same file, it does not work.

I attempt to load it up, and get the error:

I run on Audacity 3.1.0.

I now have a .aup3-wal and a .aup3-shm file of the same project, something else I’ve never seen before.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

So if you care to zip up your project and upload it to a file sharing service and post (or PM me) a link, I’ll take a look at it.

Okay. Tell me if this works for you. It was still too large after zipping so it is in a Google Drive folder with permissions.

This is the link.

I’ve seen larger files. I mean I think I saw 1 larger file. Downloading now. I have to run out for some errands. Later…

No worries. Just let me know when you get to look at it, thank you.

So anyway, I have been looking at it. It is a large file so it takes some time. Also I’m doing other things on my computer so it is running as slow as molasses. I’ll keep you posted. If I’m still working on it tomorrow, I’ll let you know.

UPDATE: I was able to load the project. I exported to a new project which is currently uploading and will be for a few hours. I’ll let you know when it is done.

OK, your file has been uploaded. I have PM’d you the link.

I am downloading now and let you know what happens.

You are a beautiful person. It opened, and now I am re-saving it as a new file.

Thank you very much. I will repost tomorrow if everything continues to go smoothly, but I imagine it will.

Very. Much. Appreciated.

I am re-saving it as a new file.

I think Audacity 3.1 has the ability to save a backup project. That produces a project with no hard links to the current edit. It’s a stand-alone project file. Use a new filename.

Also, if it fits, it’s not the worse idea to export a WAV stand-alone sound file of the work. They don’t have Project instability problems.

I attempted to run a macro that I always run (over 140 podcast episodes now).

Are you doing all this on your internal hard drive? What’s the size of the drive and how much room is left?

Do you have an Edit Master storage location other than your internal drive? Where are the 140 podcasts other than on-line.

Koz

One other note. The forum only supports super tiny sound file uploads or samples. 2MB. You can’t publish a book chapter or podcast.
