I’ve been experiencing a problem with Audacity 3.6 and 3.5 crashing immediately after applying fade in or fade out effects. I have tried this on WAV and AIFF files. My operating system is Fedora WS 42.
I love Audacity and have never experienced any problems with it until 3.5 and 3.6. I’m not sure what I can do to address this issue. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I’m a Windows guy and I’ve never seen that problem but one thing I can tell you is it has nothing to do with the format (WAV, FLAC, etc.) because those formats don’t exist “inside” Audacity. When you open any file it gets converted to 32-bit floating point PCM which is the same underlying format used in 32-bit floating WAV files.
I don’t believe it was the file format either, perhaps a bug in the implementation of Audacity’s effects in 3.5 & 3.6 and/or how it is processed on may particular system.
I trust that I’m not the only one experiencing this problem and I hope there’s a way for me to resolve this.
