When I use my brand new too expensive PhilipsPremium Air microphone, I get very low volume (and the visible waves are really small). I can boost the volume to normal by going to Effects /volume and compression/amplify and/or normalize. But I feel like I shouldn’t have to do this for an entire recording every time. I have checked the appropriate microphone.
When I change to the microphone that is “inside the computer”–the array-- the recording’s volume is perfectly fine.
Suggestions other than don’t use the fancy mic?

Does the microphone have a volume control?
Make sure Windows “enhancements” are turned OFF. They can do “strange things” to the recording. (Or… they are generally intended to improve voice/communications so you can play-around with the settings.)
You can also try turn on Microphone Boost.
Thank you. Where do I find Windows Enhancements and Microphone Boost?

Read the links. But different versions of Windows (or different drivers) may be a bit different or they may not have these features.
Also, when I turn the volume up to 100% using the slider on the upper right of the screen, right when I start to dictate the slider moves lower all by itself. This doesn’t happen when I use the microphone inside the computer.
