Exporting mp3(s) that has empty tags (e.g. Album,Title) get filled with latest exported mp3(s) valorized tags

AUDACITY 3.7.3 / WIN10

  1. Have at hand two mp3s: a.mp3 and b.mp3
  2. a.mp3 has its metadata Album tag valorized at “Album 1”
  3. b.mp3 has its Album tag NOT valorized
  4. create a macro that exports an mp3 file
  5. run the macro and from the file selector choose a.mp3
  6. the new mp3 gets exported
  7. without closing the macro window select b.mp3
  8. the new mp3 gets exported but it inherits the a.mp3 metadata

Meta information is not handled very well in Audacity.

You will also find that if you edit a tag before saving, it will sometimes contain both the old text and the new text.

Always check and update the meta data in generated audio files with a program specifically designed to do that. It would probably be a good idea to do that anyway, even if Audacity didn’t have any problems with it.
