exporting gives AIFF rather than WAV

Hi,

I use windows 7, and audacity 2.1.2. I got the zip file installer.

I use audacity to digitize my vinyl collection. When I make the first export (32 bit float, 96 kHz) and ask for “other uncompressed files” and “32-bit float WAV” I get the saved file as 32-bit float AIFF. It has happened a number of times and it is a bit annoying, since the metadata does not seem to come with the AIFF file, so you have to enter that every time. With WAV the metadata is there all the time.

The soundcard is a creative soundblaster HD X Fi.

Is this a bug or is it something that I can do something about? I was able to save as 32-bit float PCM WAV, in any case.

Regards Ardesun

Yes it’s a bug as noted in the 2.1.2 Release Notes (third bullet down from where the link lands).

The content is correct for your chosen format. All you need to do is change the extension when you export or after you export. The metadata is exported.

The incorrect extension will be fixed in the upcoming 2.1.3 release of Audacity.
