I’m super frustrated right now back because I have played with settings for several hours now and every exported file whether .WAV or .MP3 sound “tinny”. they sound like crap. They sound awesome as Audacity files, and even when I re-import them back into Audacity they sound fine. But on my own computer using windows media player, Camva, and openshot. it still sounds like crap. I just do NOT understand why Audacity cannot allow direct exportation of a file that sounds as good as it does within the app. and if not that, why does every converted exported file sound like crap? It should not take HOURS fiddling with settings to try to get a usable exported file. I have already I ctrl+A and then effect - volume and compression = normalize = remove DC offset and Normalize peak amplitude to =1.0dB. the exported file sound awesome, just as it should when I pull it back into Audacity. But when I try to play it on media player or any other platform … it’s “tinny” , it’s crap. someone for the love of sanity, please help me make this work. I TRULY don’t want to record 3 hours of audio on another platform. But if that’s what I have to do because AUDACITY is useless… that’s what I will have to do.
What have you done to try and isolate the problem?
Here are some things you can try…
A different media player.
Different speakers (like headphones).
Different equalization settings on the media player.
No equalization at all.
Disabling Windows audio enhancement.
That implies that there is nothing wrong with the exported file.
I tried to play the files on several different types of media players and used a different computer to play the file. it all sounded “tinny” everywhere except within Audacity. I spent 3 hours recording audio and spent many more hours trying to make it usable. I finally got fed up and deleted Audacity. It’s not worth the time and effort to “correct” what Audacity exports. I’ve been using OcenAudio and that’s working perferctly.
