Export wav-file in the original quality

Hi everyone!

My GF works as a linguist and has some rare records of speech. She edited the file and wanted to export it with the same quality as an original file one but there is no such option! Few years ago, as I remember, there was a possibility or option to keep the original quality (unfortunately I don’t remember what version of audacity it was). Could someone remind where is that option or how to set the quality to be the same to the original file, please?

Thanks in advance,
E.

the same quality as an original file

Unfortunately, Audacity does not have CLIP INFO, so you have to know ahead of time what the original was.

It’s not a dreadful idea to export the work as WAV (Microsoft), 16-bit, 44100 sample rate. That’s one of the “perfect” WAV formats that Audcity likes—it’s the same format that Audio CDs use.

Do Not use MP3 for any critical, archival or production work.

Thanks for your reply! I hope in the nearest future audacity will have that option.

Probably not because there are easy ways around this.

Windows has Media INFO. Get the program not the installer.

Macs have built-in QuickTime Player INFO and for even better INFO, QuickTime 7 is still available as separate download.
