I’ve just downloaded audacity 3.4.2 and the ffmpeg and I cannot export audio, I opened my save project and selected all but “select audio” is still greyed out…
Help, I only want to open a midi and export as mp3 plain and simple, no editing no nothing.
From what I found online, it looks like the piano’s USB connection can be used for audio or MIDI so you can record the audio as it’s playing. (Most MIDI keyboards are MIDI-only for the USB port.)
Or, you can connect the keyboard’s headphone-out or line-out to line-in (usually blue) on a regular soundcard. Or, if you have a laptop (with only mic-in and headphone-out) you can get a USB audio interface with line inputs.
You can also play the MIDI file on your computer and use WASAPI loopback to record whatever your computer is playing. But, you’ll be using the Windows default virtual instruments and it may not sound as good.
Or, the “best way” is to use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation application) and then you can choose the virtual instruments of your choice, optionally edit the MIDI, and directly export to an audio file.
yes I recorded it directly from the piano to a usb key,
I can play the file as is using audacity but I would like to save that file to a mp3 format so it can be played normaly without a DAW like audacity.
I am not an expert in those formats, but what is the point of using a daw if it can’t export a midi file to an mp3 even if midi is not audio?!!!
finally the export I made didn’t had any sound, so I ended up plugging my ipad on my piano and using garageband, not the best sound but at least something came out of that recording
