Hi,
So there’s my question–I am looking to extract audio from Youtube. The version of Audacity I downloaded (2.0.6) does not have the stereo mix option for recording devices, only the microphone. Is it something I have to download separately? I tried Soundflower, but if this is necessary, I’m having trouble configuring it.
Thanks a lot.
If you want a stereo mix input device to choose, use Windows, because Macs do not allow such a device.
Otherwise, please see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_mac.html.
There are ways to download YouTube videos using web browser extensions. Use your favourite search engine to find out how. Then if you install FFmpeg from http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown you can drag the downloaded video into Audacity to extract the audio.
Naturally we assume you have copyright holders’ permission to record or download from YouTube.
