“Error While Opening Sound Device. Please check the playback

I’ve been using Audacity on a MAC LAPTOP and when trying to do some work today I had a few issues.

One using two Blue “YETI” Mics, I’ve been unable to record two mics at once using the program. I played it back and heard my voice at higher pitch while the other person was low being recorded through the first mic while sitting away from it. After trying to start again and see if it was an issue with the microphones themselves I came across this error, “Error While Opening Sound Device. Please check the playback device settings and the project sample rate.” If you can tell me what this means and how to solve this issue so I can be able to record my podcast that would be great. I’ve had no issue until this point. Let me know if I should redownload Audacity or not as well. I hope someone can help.

Check if you have Audacity 2.1.0. That’s the current version. Audacity 2.10 and 2.1 are fakes.

Audacity will only record from one sound device. So that would be Yeti A or Yeti B, not both.

Plug in both Yetis.

Desktop > Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup > + > Create Aggregate Device. Choose your two Yetis > Name the device > OK.

I may have the steps slightly off there. Launch or relaunch Audacity and select the aggregate device instead of either Yeti directly.

They should both work. Fair warning, you can only sync to one of them and I think you get asked which one you want to use as the master. The other Yeti will slowly drift out of sync.
