Error trying to add LADSPA plugins

Hi!

Running MacOS 11.6.1 and Audacity 3.1.3.

I’ve been trying to add Gverb and I’m not having any luck. I’m getting the message below regardless of which plug-in I try to add/location I try to add from. Any ideas?

The LADSPA plug-ins that were previously available for Audacity are very old (obsolete) and are only available for 32-bit versions of Audacity. Audacity for macOS has been 64-bit for several years and does not support 32-bit plug-ins.

Okidokie - thanks for the speedie response.

Since you’re on Mac, check out the available Audio Unit reverbs: AUMatrixReverb and AUReverb2.

I’ve tried them in the past and they’re not quite what I’m looking for. Gverb was great for making ambient soundscapes with really long tails. I’m just going to keep looking around until I find something similar.

Audacity’s built-in reverb can make pretty long tails if you use extreme settings (see below).

Here’s a “before and after” with the settings shown:

And after shaping the sound with the “Adjustable Fade” effect:

I’ve had a play around with those settings and it does give an interesting effect, but not really the nice soft fuzzy sound that you could get out of Gverb. I’ll dig out an old computer to try and give you an example.
